COLON HYDROTHERAPY

History of Colonics
Historically, the enema, the most basic form of Colon Hydrotherapy, was first used by the Egyptians in the 14th Century B.C. The Essene Gospel of the Third Century A.D., stated: "The uncleanness within is greater than the cleanness without. And he who cleanses himself without, but within remains unclean, is a tomb that outward is painted fair, but is within full of all manner of horrible uncleanness and abominations." Hippocrates, Pare and Galen also advanced the use of enema therapy. In the early 1900's in Battle Creek, Michigan, John H. Kellogg, M.D., extensively used colon therapy on some 40,000 of his patients. In 1917 he reported in the Journal of the American Medical Association - that in all but 20 cases - NO surgery was required for the treatment of gastrointestinal disease in his patients. His patients avoided surgery as a result of cleansing the bowels, dietary adjustments and regular excercise. Colon Hydrotherapy eventually gained the attention of James A. Wiltsie, M.D., Who contended that "our knowledge of the normal and abnormal physiology of the Colon, and its pathology and management, has not kept pace with that of many Organs and Systems of the body." He went on to say, "as long as we continue to assume that the colon will take care of itself, just that long will we remain in complete ignorance of perhaps the most important source of ill health in the whole body." "In times past, knowledge of the bowel was more widespread and people were taught how to care for the bowel. Somehow, bowel wisdom got lost and it became something that no one wanted to talk about anymore." - Bernard Jensen, D.C. "Despite treatment dating back to Biblical times, there still seems to be a great deal of ignorance about the healing benefits of colon therapy" - Dr. J.E.G. Waddington.
